Maintained by Stencil Labs

oh-my-pi (omp) is a terminal coding agent built by Stencil Labs as a fork of Mario Zechner's Pi. It wires IDE abilities into the agent loop. The README lists support for 60+ providers, 31 built-in tools, 14 LSP operations and 28 DAP (debugger) operations, on a Rust core of roughly 80k lines. It installs through a shell script, Homebrew, Bun or Nix. The Nix flake also exposes NixOS and Home Manager modules for declarative configuration.

Pros & cons

Each point cites its sources and says what kind of evidence backs it. A second reviewer tried to refute every claim before it was kept.

Pros

  • User reportsSome HN users rate it highly ('currently the very best'), and one got it running with Z.ai without tweaks beyond picking a model.[1][2]
  • User reportsEasily pulls in search from Codex, Gemini and other providers, and runs natively on Windows without WSL.[1][2]
  • MetadataMIT licensed, ships very fast (v18.13.3 on 2026-10-28), about 37k stars.[1]

Cons

  • User reportsUsing consumer-subscription OAuth logins outside the official tools risks an account ban, as one user found.[1]
  • User reportsCritics say it piles on features without ablation evidence, and that hash-anchored edits waste turns in practice.[1][2]
  • User reportsProvider-specific breakage: false Antigravity 429s and DeepSeek V4 Flash repeatedly misusing the edit tool.[1][2][3]
  • MetadataAbout 2,531 open issues, a very large backlog for a project started in Dec 2025.[1]
Best for
Power users who want a feature-rich, multi-provider fork of the pi harness with IDE wiring.
Watch out for
Subscription ToS risk with OAuth providers, and edit-tool compatibility with your chosen model.
