oh-my-codex (OMX)
A workflow layer that adds hooks, teams and state to Codex CLI.
oh-my-codex (OMX) is a workflow layer for OpenAI's Codex CLI that keeps Codex as the execution engine while adding stronger default sessions, a consistent clarification-to-completion workflow and invocable workflows such as $plan, $ultragoal, $team, $code-review and $ultraqa. Project guidance, plans, logs and state are kept in a .omx/ directory. It also offers an SDK-based path for integrations such as OpenClaw and Hermes. It is tuned primarily for macOS and Linux; native Windows is not the default experience.

- DocsKeeps plans, logs and state in a project-local `.omx/` directory.[1]
- User reportsThe maintainer published per-config pass-rate and token evaluations of its defaults after a user request, though on only 6 tasks.[1]
- MetadataMIT-licensed, about 34k stars, 4 open issues, and commits as of 2026-10-29.[1]
Cons
- DocsThe README says native Windows and the Codex App are not the default experience and may break or behave inconsistently.[1]
- User reportsBig refactor epics (e.g. "simplify OMX into a lightweight workflow") have changed workflows between releases.[1][2]
- DocsUnofficial "OMX v2" forks exist, and the README warns they are not official release lines.[1]
- Best for
- Codex CLI users on macOS or Linux who want structured multi-agent workflows.
- Watch out for
- Install only the official `oh-my-codex` npm package, and expect workflow changes between releases.
