GitHub's terminal coding agent, built on the Copilot coding agent harness.
GitHub Copilot CLI brings Copilot into the terminal and, per its README, is powered by the same agentic harness as GitHub's Copilot coding agent. It can build, edit, debug and refactor code, work with repositories, issues and pull requests through the user's GitHub authentication, ships GitHub's MCP server by default and supports custom MCP servers. Every action is previewed for explicit approval. It runs on Linux, macOS and Windows, requires an active Copilot subscription and is distributed under a GitHub license rather than an OSI license.
