GitHub Copilot

GitHub's AI coding agent, from open issue to merged pull request.

GitHub Copilot spans editor, terminal, desktop and github.com. Its cloud coding agent takes tasks from the Copilot panel, dashboard, the repository Agents tab or scheduled and event-driven automations, and works on a branch in either a GitHub Actions-based environment (custom compute, self-hosted runners, 59-minute session limit) or a multi-repo cloud sandbox, opening one pull request per task. Session logs record its work, rulesets and branch protection still apply, and Agent Merge can watch PRs to address failed workflows or merge conflicts.
