Pros & cons

Each point cites its sources and says what kind of evidence backs it. A second reviewer tried to refute every claim before it was kept.

Pros

  • DocsSearches Reddit, X, YouTube, HN, Polymarket, GitHub and more than a dozen other sources and ranks results by engagement.[1]
  • DocsEvery API key is optional; with none set, the engine falls back to web-only mode.[1]
  • DocsKeys are stored in the OS keychain.[1]
  • MetadataMIT-licensed, about 66k stars, and only 8 open issues.[1]

Cons

  • DocsTikTok, Instagram, Threads, Pinterest, LinkedIn and YouTube comments need a ScrapeCreators key (10,000 free calls, then pay-as-you-go), and Amazon uses paid Bright Data credits.[1]
  • User reportsClaude Code plugin installs have failed validation ("Path escapes plugin directory", `skills: ["./"]`); both reports are closed.[1][2]
  • User reportsHermes Agent's security scanner blocked the install, and Windows subprocess timeouts have broken runs.[1][2]
  • DocsSome sources rely on unofficial access (X through a vendored Bird client, Xiaohongshu through a logged-in browser plugin), which puts the accounts used at platform-terms risk.[1]
Best for
Anyone who needs a fast, sourced brief on what people are saying about a topic, person or company in the last month.
Watch out for
Track third-party API spend and the terms of any platform you access through scraping or browser sessions.
