ArcBox is an open-source container and VM runtime for macOS, written from scratch in Rust (its own VMM, VirtIO devices, filesystem sharing and networking) and positioned as an alternative to Docker Desktop and OrbStack. One daemon and CLI run four workload types: a drop-in Docker engine with native Kubernetes, disposable microVM sandboxes for AI agents and untrusted code, full Linux VMs, and throwaway macOS guests. Sandboxes run locally through Sandbox SDKs, with no cloud account required. It is in public beta.
