Random Labs (Slate)

Slate, a swarm-native coding agent for long-running engineering work.

Random Labs (YC S24) builds Slate, a long-running autonomous coding agent. Slate V1, launched in March 2026, uses a 'Thread Weaving' design in which a central orchestration thread dispatches parallel worker threads through a TypeScript-based DSL; workers return compressed 'episodes' rather than full transcripts, and dynamic pruning manages context in large codebases. Different models can be assigned to orchestration and execution roles, and the CLI uses usage-based credits. Co-founded in 2024 by Kiran and Mihir Chintawar in San Francisco.
