Ona (formerly Gitpod)
Background software-engineering agents in governed, VPC-deployable cloud environments.
Ona, the company formerly known as Gitpod (Gitpod GmbH), runs AI engineering agents in full cloud development environments that can be deployed in the customer's VPC. Background agents take a task and return a pull request; automations trigger agent fleets from PRs, schedules or webhooks for work like CVE remediation and code migration. Runtime controls include audit trails, scoped credentials and kernel-level policy enforcement, and teams can run Ona, Codex and other agents under shared policies. OpenAI announced on June 11, 2026 that it is acquiring Ona, with the team joining Codex.
