Pioneering open-source coding agent (CLI, VS Code, JetBrains), acquired by Cursor in 2026.

Continue Dev, Inc. built Continue, an open-source coding agent available as a CLI, a VS Code extension and a JetBrains plugin. The continue.dev homepage now states that the company has been acquired by Cursor, and that the open-source codebase remains freely available as a foundation for others. The README says the continuedev/continue repository is no longer actively maintained and is read-only. A final 2.0.0 release of the extension, CLI and JetBrains plugin removed anonymous telemetry and pulled out authentication. The code remains Apache-2.0.
